Marine Life

The waters off the coast of Dubai are rich in marine life, including tropical fish, jellyfish, coral, dugong (sea cows), dolphins, whales and sharks. Various breeds of turtle can also be found in the area, including the hawksbill and the green turtles, which are both on the CITIES threatened and endangered species list.

The best known local fish is Hammour, a type of grouper. It can be found in most restaurant menus.
